Rising of a national cricket hero to the national hero and favourite politician, In a country of above 170 million people with little or no reason to cheer about , he gave a nation to smile. He made them proud. But most importantly he gave them hope. He is a man who defied a dictator and stood up for justice. He is "Kaptaan". Kaptaan - the story of an incredible life, the story of a loving son, who set him self on a journey which has no returning point, journey of selflessness and self realization. A legend, the hope of Pakistan - Imran Khan.

Faisal Aman Khan and his team, younger film-makers have undertaken the initiative to produce an independent feature film "Kaptaan". Kaptaan - the making of a legend, the upcoming movie of rising Pakistan film industry lollywood, releasing in February 2012 while some source say that release date is still is not fixed. Kaptaan follows the life of Imran Khan, a cricket turned politician and now the most favourite politician and a national hero in Pakistan. His life story from 1992 till the present.
Imran Khan was the captain of Pakistan cricket team and won the ICC Cricket World cup in 1992 and then he became a national hero in Pakistan. He got marriage with a British girl Jemima in 1995 and then divorce in 2004. He established Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center in 1996 after when his mother was a cancer patient and launched Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for justice) the same year. Khan is also the present chancellor of the University of Bradford of UK since December 2005. He established Namal Colllege Mianwali in 2008 and also trying to establish a university.

In the passing year he got high popularity and world attention in politics when he gave the people of Pakistan a message of hope, trust and justice. After arranging the Minar-e-Pakistan Jalsa, a rally of about two lac people on October 30 and Mazar-e-Quaid Jalsa Karachi, a rally of about 2.5 lac people Imran Khan went to the top in politics. Several high profile and prominent politicians joined his party PTI. and then Imran Khan turned a world famous politician. He even broke all the history records of Pakistan politics. And about 80% people like and want him as the next prime minister of Pakistan.

Now a group of young independent filmmakers has undertaken the initiative of producing an independent feature film called Kaptaan, based on Imran Khan’s high-profile lifefollowing the end of his cricket career. a UK based independent filmmaker Faisal Aman Khan is the director, writer and producer of the movie. The assistant director of the movie Naveed Anwar told to Express Tribune, “Imran Khan was reluctant at first and claimed that it was more important to focus on other aspects of the country, Faisal’s persistence finally paid in ultimately convincing him." He added, “We wanted to make a film that would project the positive side of Pakistan. It was hard as there are very few personalities in Pakistan that have a global appeal.”

The film also recreates scenes of major incidents such as his arrest at Punjab University in Lahore, his hunger strike while in jail and then certain intimate scenes with his ex-wife, Jemima Khan. 

Abdul Manan plays the role of Imran Khan in the movie. He is a local model and who has an uncanny resemblance to Imran Khan. Manan told, “There have been films such as Jinnah and Gandhi, this is another inspiring story of a nation’s hero. There are things people forget about him.”

A USA based Pakistani model, playing the role of Khan's ex-wife Jemima Khan, highlights the various challenges of living in Pakistan that Khan’s former wife faced and also highlights her complex relationship with the former cricket star. Saeeda Imtiaz says, “The way the movie is shot — the use of lighting and the fact that the filmmakers are young and full of ideas — will give the film a unique look."

Totaly 107 actors play different roles in the film and the production team is contained on 12 people.
