| Don't burn our Schools |
Today on Wednesday about 12 am (mid-night) the MUSA NIKA PUBLIC SCHOOL Wana has been destroyed in 6 bomb explosions. The school was closed for students because of winter vacations. My sources in Wana said that one section was destroyed in the explosions. None has still accepted the responsibility for this. The school was run by a local welfare organization Wana Welfare Association (WAWA). It was reconstructed and re-managed in Aplri 2010. This school is funded by the tribal people, funding taxes and donations from their properties and other resources. The last year, in a huge number students were admitted in the school and it was turned over to the South Waziristan Scouts (SWS) from the Political Administration. The SWS has given the authority to the WAWA. There was free and pure education in the school for the poor children of SWA-Wana. People, government, the local militants and other elements were supporting this school to educate the new generation of SWA-Wana. The school was donated by Dr. Badshah Jan Wazir (USA), Saeed Khan Wazir (PAkistan Police, Nasrullah Wazir and other top personalities of SWA and NGO's. As militants were in support and they have no such intentions to oppose it. So it is clear that the militants are not involved and Pakistani forces have control in the region. Another issue related to the school was that this was located in the Karmaz Khel Wazir tribe's area and they demand the special seats to be reserved for their children in the school. They several times make it serious issue. But the one thing is clear is that they never intend to take such step to damage this center of knowledge of Waziristan poor people.
in the last two days two other schools were also blown up in such explosions.
